    DESCRIPTION The Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) certification is designed to help small minority and women-owned businesses have a competitive advantage when bidding for government contracts. This certification is particularly advantageous for those interested in doing business with agencies like Caltrans, BART, High Speed Rail, local transit authorities, and most cities and counties. Join us for this free intensive workshop to learn: -How to become a certified DBE firm -How to complete the application -What documents are needed -Common mistakes with the process -Advantages of the DBE certification -How the certification can be used as a resource when doing business with the State of California The afternoon session is designed for those who have a DBE packet ready for review or who have individual questions. Meet with one of our DBE Specialists for one-on-one feedback, document review and the potential to leave with a packet ready to notarize and submit. Remember…bring your printed DBE application/documents for review by one of our specialists! Agenda: -8:30 am – 9:00 am: Registration, networking, sign up for one-on-one appointments -9:00 am – 11:30 am: DBE Certification Workshop -11:45 am – 2:00 PM: One-on-one time with DBE Specialists to review your DBE Certification Packet or ask individualized eligibility questions Featured Speaker: Christina Jones, Sr/Lead Procurement Specialist, Norcal PTAC Christina Jones is a seasoned Procurement Specialist and facilitator with over 10 years of experience in strategically positioning small businesses for government sales. Ms. Jones has worked closely with countless businesses to develop strategies for success and sustainability in the government space to include certification, contract vehicles, competitor and industry analysis, marketing strategies, proposal development, state and federal procurement program compliance, and contract administration. Ms. Jones has personally prepared countless Disadvantaged Business Enterprises (DBE) applications following CFR 49, Part 26, that were successfully certified as DBE’s. She understands the nuances of the program and is able to discern problematic areas and provide clear explanations of how regulations apply to client applications. Ms. Jones holds a BS in Business Administration from California State University, Los Angeles and an MBA from Pepperdine University. This procurement technical assistance center is funded in part through a cooperative agreement with the Defense Logistics Agency This workshop is a project of the Caltrans DBE/SS Northern Region Program.
